Nucleate, the nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering tomorrow’s biotech leaders, announced today its inaugural biotechnology course for undergraduates, DojoExplore. The course is the latest program created within the Nucleate Dojo initiative, which is dedicated to bringing more undergrads into the biotech sector.

DojoExplore will break down major functions of the biotech industry by exposing students to the roles and responsibilities of various biotech sector positions. The first cohort of trainees will learn directly from global biotechnology leaders, including from academics, startup founders, early- and late-stage venture capitalists, intellectual property experts, and pioneers of new science funding models. The course also features two practical workshops, in which student teams participate in academic spinout simulations and venture capital due diligence exercises.

The DojoExplore application is rolling and open now until October 5 at explore.nucleate.xyz.

Students in undergraduate and non-graduate programs have faced steep obstacles to engaging in translational research and bio-entrepreneurship. The DojoExplore program will contribute the strong foundation needed for them to begin pioneering careers in the biotech industry.

Nucleate Dojo, the initiative backing DojoExplore, develops educational streams to reach a more diverse audience; introduces in-person biotech learning hubs globally; and hosts fellowship opportunities, opening access to grants and career development. DojoExplore supports the mission of creating the largest global community of biotech-oriented undergraduate students.

“The life science undergrad student body is a powder keg of talent and curiosity. Many of us haven’t been sufficiently exposed to the potential career options in biotech, and this lack of engagement is an enormous missed opportunity. We founded Dojo on the principal mission of ushering more undergrads into the biotech sector. We are proud to launch Dojo Explore as to address the huge unmet need of a general and open biotech course for undergrads.”
— Michael Trinh, visiting researcher at MIT, co-founder of Nucleate Dojo

If you are interested in joining the upcoming cohort of the DojoExplore program, apply here by October 5.
