Nucleate, the nonprofit organization led by academic trainees and dedicated to empowering the next generation of biotech leaders, today announced its Arizona chapter. Nucleate Arizona is an Associate chapter, serving a new frontier of biotech entrepreneurship education.

We are excited to launch our Arizona chapter, led by an incredible team of doctoral and medical students. This launch is aimed at one of Nucleate’s core missions: democratizing access to life science education beyond the privileged few,” said Sammi Sison, co-President of Nucleate and PhD candidate at UCSD.

A New Chapter

Nucleate Arizona has planned a suite of initiatives including conferences, speaker panels, networking events, mentor connection, expert industry guidance, and other community building and educational programs. The student leaders of this chapter are graduate students from University of Arizona and Arizona State University.

Nucleate is leading a movement to empower young innovators by giving them entrepreneurial training, tools, and access to knowledge and resources. I have complete confidence that this group of thoughtful innovators will be a major force in creating a better tomorrow for our society,” said Quan Nguyen, J.D., Nucleate IP Advisor and Founder of Nguyen Tarbet Law.

Nguyen added, “Today Nucleate is winning hearts and minds across the States and around the world. Locally, teams of young entrepreneurs are embracing this movement and are creating an immediate positive impact in their community. The State of Arizona is very fortunate to have a local Nucleate team led by co-Managing Directors Maisam Jafri, Bri McCoy, and Momo Abbasi. They are bolstered by their team of 10 Directors and Leads, including Austin Blackmon and Rekha Mudappathi.”

Strong Industry Support

The rapidly expanding bioscience industry in Arizona features not only the fastest rate of growth in life science industry jobs, but also increased R&D activities, and growing NIH awards. The concentration of leading universities, research institutions, and talent are propelling Arizona’s potential into a top state for life sciences. Nucleate shares a goal with local industry leaders and organizations to grow Arizona’s biotech ecosystem.

ILUME Innovation Center is proud to have been selected as the headquarters of Nucleate Arizona. As the largest student-led community of bio-innovators launches its Arizona chapter, Stockdale Capital Partners is thrilled to support Nucleate’s expansion into one of the leading emerging bioscience markets in the country,” said Leo Divinsky, Managing Director of Stockdale Capital Partners. “ILUME’s combination of wet lab, office, infrastructure and amenities include a 110-seat auditorium in a Scottsdale location across the street from the Mayo Clinic. It is positioned for leading life sciences and technology firms to discover, innovate, and thrive.”

Nucleate welcomes our friends in Arizona as an Associate Chapter, bringing new perspectives and collaborations with next-generation biotech leaders. We are thrilled to support Nucleate Arizona as it grows with the state’s excellence in life sciences,” says Liyam Chitayat Levi, EVP Global Strategy at Nucleate.
