Nucleate, the nonprofit organization led by academic trainees and dedicated to empowering future biotech leaders, released its first impact report today. Led by Nucleate’s Research team, the impact report shares the story from origin to growth of the global organization seen today and celebrates the organization’s accomplishments from 2019 to 2023.
During the first 5 years of Nucleate’s existence, the organization rapidly grew from student-led program at the Harvard Biotech Club to global 501(c)(3) non-profit with 41 chapters across 20+ countries operating 15 programs. This report aims to showcase this growth and all the amazing work the organization has done within the first 5 years for the external community to see. Topics covered include: Nucleate as a global organization, The Activator Program, Professional Development Courses, Partner-led Programs, The Summit, and the volunteers who make it all possible.
“In these five years, we’ve proven the value of building strong foundations,” said Soufiane Aboulhouda, Co-founder and Chairman of the Board. “Our impact to date not only reflects the unmet needs that motivated the creation of Nucleate, but also highlights our continued commitment to our mission — this is just the beginning of a larger journey.”
To create the report, the Research team focused on data driven insights. Methodology for gathering data relied on two main sources. First, data was collected internally over the years including surveys and interviews with Nucleate alumni — both program participants and leaders. Second, external data was collected from PitchBook, Crunchbase, and LinkedIn. Data in this report covers the period from 2019, Nucleate’s inception, through the 2023 Activator cohort. Numbers recorded have been updated to June 2024, but exclude any of the 2024 cohort teams.
“Our 2019–2023 impact report is a celebration of Nucleate’s first 5 years, a huge milestone for any young company”, said Samantha Sison, 2023–2024 Nucleate Co-President and Co-Founder of the Research Initiative. “Being a part of this growth since 2021, I am incredibly proud to showcase our work to the external community, and I extend a big thank you to the Research team who worked so hard to put this report together”.
