Nucleate, the nonprofit organization led by academic trainees and dedicated to empowering the next generation of biotech leaders, today announced its Associate Chapter program. The program serves as the introduction to Nucleate, broadening access to biotech education worldwide. The four Associate Chapters are Argentina, Israel, Italy, and Japan.

“We often say that biotechnology should be free and open to all. The student leadership of the Associate Chapters truly embody these values,” said Jane Chuprin, Nucleate’s VP of Global Expansion and MD-PhD candidate at UMass Chan Medical School. “Together, we are initiating a global effort that empowers future biotech leaders in local communities.”

These student-led Associate chapters operate community-building and educational initiatives, including conferences, hackathons, speaker panels, mentorship programs, and other networking events. These activities are designed to strengthen the local biotech ecosystem by engaging academic trainees, senior faculty, investors, founders, and other stakeholders.

“It’s essential that academic trainees globally have access to biotech education. The Associate Chapters are entry points to Nucleate and promote our mission of democratizing education,” said Soufiane Aboulhouda, Nucleate founding Co-President, Chairman of the Board, and PhD candidate at Harvard Medical School.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity with Nucleate to create a much needed bridge between academic research and practical innovation here in Israel, while connecting us to passionate biotechnologists around the world,” added Liyam Chayat Levi, Managing Director of Nucleate Israel and Master’s student at Tel Aviv University.

Associate chapters will connect these stakeholders to the global biotech community, and vice versa. Associate Chapters will advance in subsequent years to Core chapter designation. They will then begin running all of Nucleate’s programs, including the regional Activator program, the free and rigorous curriculum for life science venture formation.
